2007 Andrew Murray Syrah, Central Coast
Tastes like: A voluptuous red-head…intense and full-bodied. A little sweet, a little spicy (spicy = wine’s version of angry). Tons of red fruit. You can smell the wine permeating the air as you hold the glass. A little licorice and earthy flavors that you get from some more hearty Syrahs.
Feels like: A smooth operator. Like a really classy Cotes du Rhone that’s dressed for casual Friday. Ordering the cheapest bottle of red wine on a restaurant menu, because you have a feeling it’s going to be good. At $28 (retail is $14), I felt like ordering a second bottle.
Goes with: Pot roast, rump roast or Comedy Central’s roast of Pam Anderson. If they let you bring wine to theaters, this would be the perfect movie snack. Best when served a little on the cool side (if the wine is room temp, pop it in the fridge for a few minutes)
